Unrefined Shea Butter: 4 Reasons It Might Be the
Right Choice for You
Experience the Anti-aging, Healing,
Prevention and Skin Protection Properties of Shea
Below
are four good reasons to consider making time for and using 100%
pure and unrefined shea butter in your hair and skin care
regimen.
1.
Daily Application to Lips, Elbows,
Hands, Knees, Lower Buttocks and Feet--The lips are quite delicate and can benefit
from the moisturizing properties of shea butter which keeps them
from becoming dry and actually rehydrates them. Rough areas of the
skin such as the elbows, hands, knees, feet and lower buttocks are
sometimes drier than other areas of the skin and can readily absorb
this heavy oil. And, in the winter time shea butter is even useful
on the face to shield and protect it from the
cold.
2.
Muscle
Relaxer--If you suffer
from arthritis or osteoarthritis, rubbing pure shea butter on the
affected area can lessen the stiffness and provide some relief from
pain.
3.
Weekly All Over Body Oil
Massager--Once a week it
is a good idea to melt down the shea butter from its solid state,
jump in the bathtub using about a pound of Epsom salt and the
aromatic bubble bath of your choice. Of course you will need to
take a shower after emerging from the tub to get rid of any soap
residue left on the skin. Once out of the tub, use this shea butter
turned shea oil to massage into your skin. You do not need to dry
yourself, just rub the oil into your skin so that it absorbs all
the shea. Pay good attention to the feet, elbows and other rough
areas of the skin that may have been neglected throughout the week
or that require a little extra care. Using shea as a weekly all
over body oil massager is a good way to keep your skin moisturized,
soft and younger looking.
4.
Hair Conditioner and Oil--African
Americans maintaining all
natural hair styles will find the use of pure shea butter oil as a
God-send as a moisturizer of the hair. After washing the hair with
black soap, apply a generous amount to the hair and scalp after
towel drying it and before braiding the hair or cornrolling it or
whatever other style you end up with. Shea butter, in combination
with using the black soap to wash the hair, will leave your hair
more manageable, easier to comb and softer to the touch. The hair
will be well moisturized and have an almost silky feeling to
it.
These
are the four main reasons to use the 100% pure African shea butter
products to create radiant skin and shiny, well groomed
hair.
For
your other natural skin care needs, you can use a blend of shea
butter combined with other natural ingredients added, and it will
works well and be less heavy. Research has shown that as long as
there is at least a 15% concentration of shea in the product that
you are using, the shea can still work well as a healing aide and
skin protector, provided it has not been overly refined or heated
to high degrees in the processing of
it.
