Contributing your expertise, knowledge and experience can help a youth be successful in academic and social interactions, and beyond that, there is something in it for you:

  • You will develop a close relationship with your mentee
  • You will be re-energized personally
  • You will increase your commitment to your own career, and positively impact your organization
  • You will learn more by talking about and teaching others
  • You will increase your empathy, listening, caring and building trust skills; these attributes will spill over to other parts of your life
  • You will grow more confident
  • You will play an important part in the achievement of your mentee?s goals, and
  • You will enhance your own self-esteem because it just feels good to help others, and it feels good to give.

Anyone Can Contribute

If you would like to volunteer specific services or items you feel would be useful to our program, feel free to contact us. We welcome your suggestions because we sincerely believe that it really does take a village to raise up a youth.

A Safe Environment

Our plan highlights a commitment to creating a safe environment for our youth and mentors to interact in a non-threatening atmosphere. Our mentoring takes place in the schools or school-related activities, or in activities directly supervised by The Mentoring Group.

Making the Commitment

?The result of a compassionate, concerned adult taking an interest in a student?s accomplishment is success for that student and the community. Sometimes we have to go beyond the four walls of school or home to find the extra encouragement needed to achieve the goals and aspirations of the students. That is why mentoring is so important to the growth of the mentee, school and community.? - Sandy Mitchell, Eastside High School.
